Dance & performance artists generating work at Luminz

Luminz Studio dance & performing arts center is home to many dance artists in the region.  The studio functions as a rehearsal space, a place to present works-in-process for feedback from peers and as a venue that produces group shows and offers space and equipment for self-produced work.

Joan Sanchez has been making dances since 1980. She works with both
structured improvisation and set choreography.  Her style is eclectic…she enjoys creating movement that suits her dancers.  Most
often, the choreography or structure comes first and the music is chosen or composed later.  During her years as a solo performer, she drew inspiration from the sea and landscape of Mt. Desert Island, Maine, where she lived for many years.  Presently, she is reveling in the wonderful variety of dancers she is working with in Southern Vermont.  joanenrique@gmail.com

Cyndal Ellis, co-founder of the Northampton, MA based Sovereign Collective, performs and choreographs Arab-American fusions that are a unique blend of contemporary dance, American belly dance, and tribal fusion. Cyndal’s work is sensual, hypnotic, and expressive. Cyndal utilizes the music, ranging from traditional folkloric to contemporary electronica, as both atmosphere and intimate performance partner.  cyndalellis@yahoo.com
